Making the most of your profile on the site

We have some suggestions and tools on this web site that might give you an advantage in being invited for castings and getting the best jobs.

  • Have you upgraded your modelling profile to Gold or Platinum status yet? Platinum models get listed in search results before all other models and our listing prices are very competitive. You can choose to take an enhanced listing for anything from 90 days to one year - and the longer subscription you take, the cheaper it is. You can upgrade your profile at any time and take advantage of the enhanced visibility this will give your profile as well as the option to load more pictures on to your profile.

  • Why not consider taking a featured model spot like the featured models on this page? You will appear on our home page, this page and in our newsletter for one week. Again, prices are very reasonable.
    Buy a featured model listing
  • Whatever your listing level, you want to make sure that your profile tells the best story about you that it can. If you are serious about modelling as a career, you should consider investing in a set of professionally produced photos. We have links with several professional photographers and can help you through the process of putting together a professional portfolio. Call us on 0845 388 7249 to find out more.
  • Have you thought about posting a news item or a success story? Anyone can do this and it will help to raise your profile. Success stories can also display links to videos on YouTube so potential casting directors can see you in action - much more powerful than just photos alone.

  • A bit of pre-work on your images can make them "pop" out of the page. All our thumbnail images (the small images you see of each model) are displayed at 100 pixels wide by 120 pixels tall on this site. When you load a picture, we will automatically resize it for you, but if it doesn't match those dimensions, there will be some space at the sides left blank - that's just wasted space that could be showing more of you. If you put some time into cropping your images to a size that correspond to these proportions (e.g. 400 x 500 pixels, 500 x 625 pixels) you can make sure your picture displays to best effect when potential bookers look at it.
  • Have you updated your profile recently? Remember the section "About you" on the form? You can keep coming back to this to update it with your recent experience - remember to put your most recent work first.

Safety first

Unfortunately, in this day and age, everyone (men and women) needs to take some commonsense precautions when dealing with strangers, e.g. at casting interviews and when applying for jobs

  • Obviously the best advice is only to deal with people you know from past experience or that come through a personal recommendation from someone you know and trust. But obviously that isn't always possible.
  • When applying for jobs on this site, you don't have to give away any personal contact details in your job application. The person posting the job will get a link to your modelling profile and will be able to view your profile to see whether you're suitable before going any further - only then do you need to swap personal contact information. Most casting directors will reply with their contact information and invite you to ring or e-mail them (rather than asking for yours).
  • When attending for interviews always ensure that:
    • Someone knows where you are going and when you are supposed to be back. Make sure that person has the contact details for the person scheduling the interview
    • That your phone is fully charged
  • Any professional casting director will fully understand and not mind at all if you want to take someone with you.
  • You are always in charge of what you want to do - don't get bullied into doing something that you're not comfortable with. You can always say no.
  • Remember - modelling agencies cannot legally charge you fees for representing you; if you are asked for money, say no and walk away.
  • Trust your instincts - this isn't the only modelling job in the world; if something doesn't feel right or you start to feel uncomfortable, just walk away.
